Description
Horace The Voracious Viper
He slithers here he slithers there, Travelling without wont or care.
Looking for the food to sate, his appetite that was so great.
Horace ate just anything; to build up his viperous sting.
He also needed energy; he ate tween dinner and his tea.
Dead mice and birds, Sometimes the living; whatever: there was no misgiving.
He stuffed him self from dawn to night, Then one sad day he had a fright.
Horace slithered up a tree; a storm blew up so violently.
It bade the branch he sat on dance, he saw another snake by chance.
As his hunger pangs grew greater, he knew he could not wait till later.
The storm could last a long time yet, he hated travelling in the wet.
It could be friend or family that other viper he could see.
His appetite was so voracious; he swallowed it – goodness gracious!
The tail he’d swallowed was his own, Horace gave his dying moan.
The greedy viper had made a blunder; a 4-wheel drive was passing under
Neath the tree where he was dying, the dancing wind sent Horace flying.
He hit it’s windscreen with such force, his final living act of course.
Like any story of a viper, he made a lovely windscreen wiper!
